Contract: Permanent
If you offer proven expertise in examining and assessing geospatial/hydrographic data this position offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of cartographic training for a world leading organisation.
About UKHO
The UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) is an executive agency, sponsored by the Ministry of Defence. We work with a wide range of data partners to chart the world's oceans in order to develop and serve world leading software and data solutions to commercial shipping companies, navies and maritime organisations.
The role
This post is an integral part of the UKHO international cartographic and hydrographic training team and is responsible for delivering high quality cartographic training to our international community, online and face to face.
You will deliver training at key points during the internationally recognised Category B GeoMAC programme to delegates in the UK. You will also deliver short courses online, via Microsoft Teams alongside the development of new courses.
Through flexible working practice you will design and deliver training to international partners, supporting the UKHO’s strategic objectives, including the UKHO strategy relating to Primary Charting Authority Areas and Capacity Building.
Working with the wider International Training Team and International Training Academy Officer, you will plan and evaluate effective programmes of study in line with emerging global training trends and capacity building requests for our international delegates.
You will be expected to have excellent organisational and communication skills, combined with a working knowledge of S-57 geospatial data capture and modelling and geospatial data manipulation. This role also requires proven experience in the examination and assessment of incoming geospatial/hydrographic data (specifically S-57); as well as the maintenance of databases, products and datasets with a CLF Level 4 or above. Proficiency with operating the CARIS toolset is equally important.
In return
UKHO is a great place in which to explore your career potential. While our projects are career-defining, the work/life balance that we can offer you is equally exceptional. From flexitime, flexible working, an award-winning office environment and a generous annual leave allowance of 34.5 days including public holidays, the opportunities open to you here are hard to beat.
For a full job description, including the assessment criteria, please click the apply button to be taken to our website.
Closing date: 11:55 pm on 17 July 2022.
UKHO embraces diversity and promotes inclusion and equality of opportunity. We are a Disability Confident employer, which includes offering a guaranteed interview to candidates with disabilities, providing they meet the minimum selection criteria.
