If you are an established geospatial analyst with recognised GIS training and/or equivalent experience, this position offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the Hydrographic Programmes team at the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO).

About UKHO

The UKHO is an executive agency, sponsored by the Ministry of Defence. We work with a wide range of data partners to chart the world's oceans in order to develop and serve world leading software and data solutions to commercial shipping companies, navies and maritime organisations.

The Hydrographic Programmes team manages a portfolio of projects, programmes and activities, delivering professional hydrographic survey services to maximise benefit to the UKHO.

The role

You will be responsible for maintaining the Hydrographic Programmes Geographical (Geospatial) Information System (GIS), conducting research, coordinating input from wider UKHO stakeholders and collating reports and briefing notes in fulfilment of discrete projects.

You will assist the Head of Hydrographic Programmes as well as the Hydrographic Programme Managers in the operational delivery and management of programmes and projects and make representations on their behalf at various fora, both national and international, as required.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining the Hydrographic Programmes database
