Merton Council 
is an award winning Local Authority. We are implementing series of major change projects, aimed and improving services provided to the local community whilst addressing legislative and efficiency challenges within the business through major systems improvement. We are looking for a Senior GIS Professional who has the drive and ambition to drive these improvements forward. This is a rewarding and challenging role with plenty opportunities to learn and develop. 

Working in an ambitious London Borough to bring real improvements to people's experience of public services will be just one of them.

The Council is looking for an effective Senior IT Analyst GIS (Geographical Information Systems) who has a proven and demonstrable track record of implementing ArcGIS Enterprise Solutions as well as supporting a wide range of GIS Software Applications in a Public Sector environment.

Currently Merton Council uses on premise MapInfo Professional and Spectrum Spatial Analyst, as its main GIS Solutions, However it is in the process of implementing a hybrid on premise ArcGIS Enterprise Solution and ArcGIS online.

The successful candidate will be expected to lead on the Council's GIS Transformation Project adopting both a strategic mind-set and hands on approach to delivering ArcGIS based Solutions to a wide variety of business units that will fulfil often complex requirements. They will also need to ensure that business as usual is a top priority.

They will need to be interpret complex business requirements and be able to convey how GIS can best deliver on these in an efficient and cost effective way, to an often non GIS Specialist user base from Senior Manager to Junior Officer Level.

Experience of implementing, developing supporting ArcGIS Enterprise Software Solutions is essential along with a good working knowledge of MapInfo Professional and Spectrum Spatial Analyst.

The candidate should also possess excellent data management, data migration, web map application configuration skills and Microsoft SQL Server skills. They will also need to support and mentor users in the utilisation of GIS. Therefore impeccable customer and inter-personal skills will be required.

The successful candidate will also need to provide technical business as usual support on a 08:00-18:00 rota to GIS and non-GIS Systems.

In addition, Merton Council offers flexible working/working from home, excellent holiday entitlement and a competitive salary along with a Local Government Pension Scheme. We also believe in developing our staff.

We are situated in the Merton Civic Centre which is opposite Morden Underground Station located at the southerly tip of the Northern Line. We are also a 10 minute walk from Morden Road Tram Stop and both Morden South and South Merton Railway Stations.

We are also in close proximity to Wimbledon which forms part of the London Borough of Merton.
