If you offer experience of working with geospatial data and services, this position offers the opportunity to join the Research, Design & Innovation team at the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) and play a key role supporting the business in bringing to market new geospatial products and services.
 
About the UKHO
 
The UKHO is an executive agency, sponsored by the Ministry of Defence. We work with a wide range of data partners to chart the world's oceans in order to develop and serve world leading software and data solutions to commercial shipping companies, navies and maritime organisations. Our products ensure safe navigation and global trade efficiency and support other marine activities including economic development, environmental protection, resource exploration and utilisation, scientific research and security and defence.
 
The role
 
Working within multi-disciplinary teams, you will develop a variety of new proof of concept geospatial products and services and act as an expert on how our data can be used by third parties. Your key responsibilities will include:
 
  • Developing innovative geospatial solutions to disseminate geospatial information
     
  • Creating proof of concepts with colleagues from around the business
     
  • Engaging and collaborating with industry, academia and wider partners to act as an expert on marine geospatial solutions
     
  • Providing technical advice to the wider business regarding geospatial data and best practices 
You will need programming experience with languages such as Python, SQL, Javascript etc. and a positive attitude towards problem solving, learning new skills and new technology. Technical experience of software development environments is equally important.
