Job Description:

Nicholas Pearson Associates (NPA) is an established and respected consultancy of environmental planners, ecologists and landscape architects based in the centre of Bath with projects throughout the UK. We take a multi-disciplinary approach to our work. We have a broad client base and cover projects ranging from private residential properties to large, multi-phased urban expansion schemes.

We are currently looking to appoint someone as a GIS/Graphics Technician, to provide technical support services that underpin much of the work that we do and to influence the future development of GIS and graphics services within the company.

It is envisaged that the successful applicant will perform the following duties:

• GIS map and report production;

• Development and management of spatial databases;

• Data queries and analysis;

• Data input and data quality assurance;

• GIS training for internal staff;

• Promoting and developing GIS use throughout the company;

• GIS software customisation;

• Offering support in relation to Graphics/CAD / 3D Visualisations and
   Photomontages, depending on experience.

We are looking for someone who is highly IT literate with a sound knowledge of Open Source GIS, Microsoft Office and Adobe applications. Essential skills include:

• QGIS/GRASS;

• PostgreSQL/PostGIS/SQL; 

• GDAL/OGR;

• Spatial Analysis and GIS Theory;

• Adobe Illustrator, InDesign & Photoshop;

• Knowledge of UK Environmental and Ordnance Survey datasets;

• Knowledge of either Python or Javascript.

In order to support our other technical services, knowledge of one or more of the following would also be highly beneficial, although not essential:

• AutoCAD;

• 3D Studio Max;

• Blender;

• HTML/CSS (web development);

• IT and Network administration.
