Employment TypeFixed Term Appointment - Fair and Open

We are currently seeking applications for 20 Fixed Term Appointment Digitisers within Directorate for Rural Payments and Inspections (RPID) based currently at Saughton House, Edinburgh.

European Regulations require RPID to uniquely identify, map and evaluate the area of every Land Parcel in Scotland claimed under the various EC grant-aid schemes covered by the Integrated Administration and Control System (IACS).  Subsidy claims cannot be paid to Rural Businesses until they have been successfully verified against the Land Parcel Identification System (LPIS).  This mapped information forms the Division’s Field Identification System (FIS) in which details of over 500,000 Land Parcels in Scotland are held.

You will assist in the maintenance and operation of the Field Identification System and help process Land and Business Change Forms (LBCFs) sent in each year by farmers who are notifying the Directorate of changes to their Land Parcel boundaries and internal features along with land parcel inspection data and internal RPID maintenance of Land Parcels. You will work with a Geographical Information System (GIS) digitising application and the IACS claims system in order to accurately map the boundaries of Land Parcels.

This vacancy contributes towards the Scottish Government National Outcome ‘We live in a Scotland that is the most attractive place for doing business in Europe’. For information on Scottish Government National Outcomes visit this website.

Qualifications & Experience Required

Candidates will be required to have a B.Sc. qualification in Geographic Information Systems or Geography and/or 12 months experience of using digitising software. Other qualifications equivalent to these may also be acceptable, if you are in any doubt please contact to discuss.

You will require excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise work, use your own initiative as well as have first rate communication skills, both verbal and written enabling engagement with a range of stakeholders both internal and external.
