Job description:

Wessex engineering and construction department is responsible for the delivery of the whole of our current asset management programme including water and sewage treatment and water network projects. The Engineering and construction department is also responsible for the repair and maintenance of the sewerage and water network across the region.

We currently have an initial 18 month fixed term vacancy for a CAD technician, within the networks design team, (pipelines design) who specialise in the design and delivery of large diameter pressure pipeline projects. You will facilitate the drafting of project designs, taking responsibility for your own technical and administrative aspects of carrying out the role to ensure that drawings are delivered to the appropriate standard and consistency within agreed budgets and timescales.

You will also be responsible for:

* Production of water industry specific engineering drawings on AutoCAD in compliance with national and Wessex Water's internal design standards.

* Types of drawing include:

* Pipeline plan and sections.

* Setting out drawings.

* Pipeline details.

* Land plans.

* Site investigation plans.

* Planning.

* Third party consents.

* Traffic management.

* General arrangement.

* RC detailing.

* Civil detailing.

* Record drawings.

* Schematics.

* P&IDs.

* Assisting the project engineers with development of designs.

* Ensuring working procedures are in compliance with the internal drawing management systems.

* Managing the issue of drawings and associated registers to all interested parties in a timely and auditable manner.

* Liaise with all necessary parties and seek required information to complete drawings.

* Manage own time to meet required deadlines.

The ideal candidate should:

* Be proficient with AutoCAD 2D and a good understanding of AutoCAD 3D.

* Suitable engineering or CAD qualification is preferred.

* Minimum of 5 year's relevant experience with a good level of education; preferably A Level or higher, together with knowledge of water supply and or sewerage networks is essential.

* The ability to communicate effectively throughout the company is essential.

* Experience of using GIS software is essential.

* Knowledge of RC detailing

* Good PC skills and experienced in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and some additional specific IT knowledge e.g. Arc View, office, preferred.

* Good attention to detail and accuracy.

* Have the ability to work under moderate supervision with self-motivation and initiative.

You must be able to prove your eligibility to work in the UK and provide evidence of qualifications gained.
