Job description:

Wessex engineering and construction department is responsible for the delivery of the whole of our current asset management programme including water and sewage treatment and water network projects. The engineering and construction department is also responsible for the repair and maintenance of the sewerage and water network across the region.

We currently have a vacancy for a CAD technician, within the newly formed design team, to produce drawings for all project stages from concept to takeover in line with internal and national standards. This will be a full time position based at our award winning operations centre in Bath.

You will also be responsible for:

* Production of water industry specific engineering drawings on AutoCAD in compliance with wessex water's internal design standards.

* Assisting the project engineers with development of designs.

* Ensuring working procedures are in compliance with the internal drawing management systems.

* Managing the issue drawings and associated registers to all interested parties in a timely and auditable manner.

* Liaise with all necessary parties and seek required information to complete drawings.

* Manage own time to meet required deadlines.

The ideal candidate should:

* Be extremely proficient in the production of engineering drawings using AutoCAD 2D.

* Be proficient in AutoDesk Civils 3D to assist in the production of pipeline long section drawings for a range of upcoming flag-ship projects, (This is not an outright necessity, as the right candidate could receive training to provide this support to the internal design team.)

* Have a suitable engineering qualification i.e. ONC/D HNC/D.

* Minimum of 5 year's relevant experience with a good level of education; preferably A Level or higher, together with knowledge of water supply and or sewerage networks and an understanding of the associated treatment processes is essential.

* The ability to communicate effectively throughout the company is essential.

* Experience of using GIS software is essential.

* Good PC skills and experienced in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and some additional specific IT knowledge e.g. Arc View, Office, preferred.

* Good attention to detail and accuracy.

* Have the ability to work under moderate supervision with self-motivation and initiative.

You must be able to prove your eligibility to work in the UK and provide evidence of qualifications gained.
