Job Description:

Location: Taunton, South West
Salary: £20,149 increasing to £25,324 on completion of training, consolidation and competency period.
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full Time, Part Time, Flexible

Do you thrive on working in a team to deliver outcomes at pace and have a good eye for detail?  Do you have an interest in maritime and hydrographic data? If so we would love to hear from you.

About the UKHO

UKHO is an executive agency, sponsored by the Ministry of Defence. We work with a wide range of data suppliers and partners, surveying and charting the world's oceans in order to develop and serve world leading software and data solutions to commercial shipping companies, navies and maritime organisations. Our products ensure safe navigation and global trade efficiency and support other marine activities including economic development, environmental protection, resource exploration and utilisation, scientific research and security and defence.

The role
The Impact Analysis Team is responsible for the interpretation and assessment of incoming data for its impact on the Mariner and on UKHO Products and Services.  Using GIS software and tools, the team examine the incoming information and decide what action needs to be taken to maintain the safety and quality of UKHO products and services and provide subsequent tasking instructions to the production area to carry out required actions.

As an Impact Analysis Trainee, you will embark on a development pathway that will entail participation in the Impact Analysis formal training course and then a period of consolidation – where you will be measured against the B3 Operational Performance Statement and Competency Framework.  Once you have satisfactorily and consistently met the core requirements you will be promoted to B3 and become an Impact Analysis Team Member.

What we are looking for

A prior interest in hydrography and navigational products will be beneficial but more important will be your ability to work at pace as part of a team with strong attention to detail. Successful applicants will need to evidence previous experience working with databases and have awareness of GIS data manipulation. If you can demonstrate this and have the ability to learn new software quickly, we would like to hear from you.

In return
We will actively empower you to develop yourself and provide flexible working practices for a healthy work/life balance. You will also benefit from a brand-new award-winning office, with use of our on-site gym, free parking and subsidised canteen.

For a full job description, including the assessment criteria, please click the apply button to be taken to our website.
Closing date: 23:55 17 January 2020.
UKHO embraces diversity and promotes inclusion and equality of opportunity. We are a Disability Confident employer, which includes offering a guaranteed interview to candidates with disabilities, providing they meet the minimum selection criteria.
