The GIS Enterprise Manager fulfils a crucial role in the company, covering the GIS infrastructure management and IT systems management. You will be responsible for the maintenance, installation and upgrading of all GIS systems. This includes, system architecture, data design, security and needs assessments.

The IT related aspects include the upkeep of all IT equipment; servers, desktops and laptops. You will also be required to manage the physical network, the domain (including user accounts, email & subscriptions) as well as backups. 

Job Requirements:

Key responsibilities:
The prime responsibility is to ensure that all the technology components are in place and working so that the company can deliver against its business strategy. This comprises of:

Geographic Information Services.
1. GIS Enterprise. Maintain and develop Alcis’ GIS systems, software and hardware to ensure that the business can deliver its core ESRI based services to clients.
2. Online. Provide robust and reliable web services to the business and its clients, extending the functionality and potential value of our data, products and services.
3. Infrastructure. Ensure that the UK office and any deployed infrastructure is configured for effective and efficient delivery of projects.
4. Data. Work with the Technical Delivery Manager to develop systems and processes that will enable the efficient storage, management and distribution of geospatial data across and outside the organisation. Ensure that delivery methods are robust and reliable.
5. Products and services. Offer support to the technical team to ensure that outputs are delivered in the best way, considering client, quality and available infrastructure constraints.
6. Expertise and advice. Transfer knowledge and skills to the technical team to achieve the constant improvement of Alcis products and services.

Product Development and Innovation.
1. Innovation. Creatively apply knowledge and experience of GIS and IT against client needs or business directions to propose solutions that will improve how Alcis delivers its work.
2. Research and Development. Conduct trials and demonstrations of emerging systems and technology in order to assess how they can be applied to Alcis’ business and the value they bring
3. Technology Awareness. Actively monitor new developments in the Geospatial technology arena and maintain sight of new or emerging solutions that are of value. Develop a relationship with ESRI to harness their new developments.

Business IT Systems
1. Business Systems. Manage and maintain all IT equipment including servers, desktops and laptops. Manage the physical office network as well as the domain and services used. Monitor performance and processes and ensure the resilience plan is followed, including backups.
2. 1 st line support. Be the primary point of contact for staff relating to IT issues. Be proactive in improving current practices and reactive to problems encountered.
3. Technical Guidance. Transfer expertise, knowledge and awareness of IT systems and processes to other in the business to aid self-help and speed up the diagnosis process.

Profile
The ideal candidate will have the following background:
• BSC/MSc in GIS or related discipline or IT
• Minimum of 5 years’ practical experience using full ESRI stack
• Recent experience installing and maintaining ArcGIS Enterprise including Portal
• Recent experience of developing and deploying GIS services
• Experience working with commercial imagery
• A track record building solutions requiring the integration of IT and GIS

Mandatory Skills
• Working knowledge of all ESRI products
• Installation, management and administration of ArcGIS Enterprise
• Understanding of the fundamentals of geographic data
• Competence in common languages e.g. Python, JavaScript
• Experience of Database Management Systems specifically those commonly used in GIS related activity (PostgreSQL/PostGIS, SQL Server)

Desired Skills
• Experience of general IT activities e.g. network management, security, licensing, hardware & software installation and maintenance.
• Hyper-V and virtualisation management
• Windows Active Directory Administration
• Office 365 management
• Solutions architecture design and technical bid writing
• Keen interest in new technologies and innovation
