Job Description:

IT Analyst (GIS) – 2 Year Fixed Term Contract

Salary: Up to £35,724 per annum

Merton Council is an award winning local authority. We are implementing a series of major change projects, aimed at improving services provided to the local community whilst addressing legislative and efficiency challenges within the business through major systems improvement. We have developed a challenging and wide reaching transformation portfolio, and are now looking for staff who have the energy and ambition required to drive this programme forward. This is a rewarding and challenging role with plenty of opportunities for learning and development.

Working in an ambitious London Borough to bring real improvements to people’s experience of public services will be just one of them.

The Council is looking for an effective IT Analyst – GIS (Geographical Information Systems), who has a proven track record of working with and supporting a wide range of GIS Software Applications.

Currently Merton Council uses on premise MapInfo and Spectrum Spatial Analyst, as its main GIS Solutions. However, it is currently in the process of undertaking a procurement exercise that will either upgrade or replace the current Solutions.

The successful candidate will be required to support the Council’s GIS along with its GIS Transformation project. They will provide technical support and advice to the organisation whilst supporting the Senior IT Analyst (GIS) in the implementation of the Transformation Project Activities.

They must have strong knowledge and experience in supporting GIS within a Local Government context, a strong MapInfo and Spectrum Spatial Analyst background along with experience in using other GIS Software Applications.

They should also possess excellent data management, data migration and web application configuration skills. They will also need to support and mentor users in the utilisation of GIS. Therefore excellent customer service skills would also be required.

You'll be joining a professional and friendly team with a diverse range of experience and knowledge. This is a rewarding role for those who are willing to enhance their skills, with many opportunities for learning and development within a career-grade structure.

Merton Council additionally offers flexible working/working from home, excellent holiday entitlement and a competitive salary along with a Local Government Pension Scheme.

We believe in developing our staff and offer excellent training.

We are situated in the Merton Civic Centre which is opposite to Morden Underground Station which is on the Northern Line. We are also a 10 minute walk from Morden Road Tram Stop and both Morden South and South Merton Railway Stations.

We are also near Wimbledon which is part of The London Borough of Merton.
