Do you have an interest in Street Name and Numbering and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and have a passion for providing a good quality service to both residents and council staff?

We are looking for a GIS/Address Management Officer to maintain the Council’s  Property/Street Gazetteer and Corporate GIS layers. The role will include being the Council’s Custodian of the Street Naming and Numbering function, as well as being the Corporate GIS Custodian. 

Your role will help the Council maintain the highest national standard (Gold) for addressing and be responsible for the creation of new properties and streets, and the linking of new properties/streets to the GIS Layers. 

Each property/street has a unique property reference number (UPRN) this is the ‘Golden Thread’ that needs to be used across all council systems.

You will be able to effectively communicate between developers, residents, householders, councillors and staff to ensure that the Street Name and Numbering process is carried out in accordance with the policy.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • To be responsible for all elements of the Council’s Street Name and Numbering service. This involves consultation with internal and external partners in accordance with our policy.
  • Use the Council’s Local Land Property Gazetteer (LLPG) to ensure that all street and property records are created and maintained in accordance with the BS7666 standard.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that files (such as health checks, and matching records) received from the National Hub are reviewed and analysed, implemented if necessary.
  • To ensure that the links from LLPG to other Council systems are maintained, and assess if other systems can also be linked to the LPG. (Golden Thread).
  • To maintain and update the O.S and Corporate layers in the Councils GIS and act as the Council’s Authority Liaison Officer (ALO) in respect of ensuring that Ordnance Survey Map updates are applied to the system.
  • You will be able to provide specialist support and advice to users and deal with queries in respect of  Street Naming and Numbering functions, LLPG and GIS
  • Steer on data quality matters in respect of property, people and asset datasets.
  • To work with ICT in ensuring mapping pages are presented and that GIS and associated datasets are available to the public and Council staff.
Applicants must have a driving licence which is valid in the UK and use of a vehicle.
 
A check will be undertaken with the Disclosure and Barring Service to ensure that the successful candidate for the above post has no relevant convictions.
