Background Information

Forest Research has a vacancy for a GIS Support Officer within Operational Support Team in the Inventory, Forecasting and Operational Support (IFOS) Centre. The Operational Support Team work in partnership principally with the Forestry Commission (FC) Estate Managers to deliver a range of services. The main service provided is Forester, an integrated Geographic Information System (GIS) platform for forest and land management. Forester is a highly configurable, enterprise, cloud based, web and mobile GIS platform supporting over 1100 users in Scotland and England.

The key responsibilities for the role will include:

In your role as GIS Support Officer, you will report to the Service Delivery Manager and provide support in all aspects of the delivery of the Forester service to a large and diverse user base. 

You will work closely with customers to resolve problems and requests in a consistent and timely manner. You will also assist in the management of the Forester releases and associated deliverables. The role will have strong customer focus and delivery. 

This key role will support the technical capabilities of the existing team utilising the latest technologies from Esri.
