Job Description:

As a GIS Specialist you will be responsible for providing all GIS data support to the companies offshore wind projects – whilst working as part of the much wider multidisciplinary team. Additional duties will include:
  • Responsibility for all daily GIS and data management work, including data collection, special analysis of data, production of documents such as map, spreadsheets, datafiles
  • Establishing and subsequently operating a structure, quality checked and secured geodatabase
  • Providing occasional ad hoc assistance to other technical areas of the business
As our first dedicated GIS resource, with a growing workload for the right candidate it is likely that there could be opportunities to develop a wider GIS team.
 

Job Requirements:

You should hold a Bachelor degree or equivalent within a relevant discipline such as Geography, Geology or Engineering.  It is essential that you have knowledge of GIS. You will be able to demonstrate experience working with GIS within an engineering environment, and will have prior experience in using GIS for a variety of purposes, from conducting analysis to loading data and ideally also using web-based GIS solutions. It is essential that you will demonstrate the ability to plan and prioritize your work load.  In addition, you will have a structured and meticulous approach to work and display good communication skills coupled with a service minded attitude.  
Furthermore, it is advantageous if you have:
  • Experience of using GIS in the field of offshore wind, and prior experience in interpreting geotechnical and geophysical data 
  • Knowledge of/experience using 3D drawing package (eg Autocad or Solidworks) and/or programming languages (eg Python and Matlab)
